Why Should I Care?
By managing the rainwater properly as close as
possible to where it falls, we can reduce basement flooding and
street flooding in our neighborhood, and pollution of area streams
and lakes. By intercepting, holding/evaporating, infiltrating
and treating rainwater on individual properties, the volume and
rate of water entering the storm water system and eventually Minnehaha
Creek and Lake Harriet will decrease. In addition, the quality
of water will increase due to nutrient uptake and sediment capture.
