What's Happening in Fulton NRP Phase II Planning Process Find Out How to Get Involved
  • Identify your buckthorn...

You first need to determine whether you have buckthorn on your property. It may be a hedge, bush, or tree that was planted in your yard years ago. Or, if you have any areas in your yard that have shrubs that have spontaneously grown, chances are it is buckthorn. Refer to the pictures and descriptions to help identify buckthorn. If you need help reviewing your property, call the Fulton Neighborhood Line at (612) 922-3106. Volunteers are available to help you identify buckthorn.

  • Remove your buckthorn...

If you do have buckthorn, consider removing it and replacing it with a less aggressive (preferrably native) species.

  • Volunteer to join Fulton's Buckthorn Bust...

We need your help to effectively fight the spread of buckthorn in our parks! Fulton Neighborhood removed the buckthorn at Lake Harriet and Minnehaha Creek and this fall collaborated with Linden Hills residents to remove buckthorn at William Berry Park.

For more information about volunteering for future buckthorn removal events, call the Fulton Neighborhood Line at (612) 922-3106 or send an email to info@fultonneighborhood.org.

If we work together, we can enhance native plant communities throughout Fulton - on both our own property as well as our parklands. Please consider participating - thanks!
